la Cité de l’Énergie Reservation

We are open everyday between 10 AM and 5 PM from June 10 to September 24 for our summer season!

The Cité de l’énergie visit (lasts about 4 hours) includes :

  • The visit of the Science Center includes 2 permanent exhibitions – Planète Énergie and Canada in the world of the Prime Minister Jean Chrétien Museum, the temporary exhibition, the Hydro-Quebec observation tower and the Planète Énergie multimedia show (total duration of the visit is about 2 hours, but may vary according to the pace of of each visitor).
  • The visit of the Hydroelectric sector, offered by Hydro-Québec, includes the N.A.C. and the Shawinigan-2 hydroelectric power stations. The visitors will be transported there aboard the land and river shuttles of the Cité de l’énergie. (total duration of the visit is about 2 hours. It includes outside sections and is done mostly by walk).

How to get there?

From Montreal: From Highway 55 North, take exit 211 to 153/Shawinigan centre-ville/Saint-Boniface. Follow the blue tourist signs: La Cité de l’énergie.

From Quebec City: From Highway 40 West, take exit 220 for Qc-359 North to St-Luc-de-Vincennes/Champlain/St-Narcisse/Shawinigan then follow the blue tourist signs: La Cité de l’énergie.

From La Tuque and Lac-Saint-Jean: By highway 155/55 South, take exit 217 to Shawinigan centre-ville/Saint-Mathieu du Parc. Follow the blue tourist signs: La Cité de l’énergie.

  • Science Center and hydroelectric sector: Daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • City Tour and Cruise: Unconfirmed operating periods for 2021, hours vary, inquire at the front desk.

OFF-SEASON (SEPTEMBER 25 2023 TO JUNE 8, 2024)

Open by reservation only for groups of 15 people or more.

Visitors can book their visit online in advance. It is also possible to buy tickets directly on site.

We also offer online booking for the shows tickets.

Store

la Cité de l’Énergie Store

Take home a souvenir from the Cité de l’énergie or the show by visiting our souvenir store located in the Science Center lobby.

The store is open during Science Center hours and on show nights during the summer season.

Restaurant

For a worry-free visit, dine on site at Café de la Tour, located in the Science Center. (The restaurant is also open for dinner on show days)

A snack menu is offered as well as daily menus in peak season.

Picnic areas: Several picnic tables are located throughout the Cité de l’énergie site. Take advantage of your visit to eat outdoors in the heart of Melville Island’s nature and our beautiful floral and landscaping arrangements.

Children’s footsteps: We provide footsteps for children in our showrooms to allow your little ones to see all the items on display.

Baby changing tables: Changing tables are available in both the men’s and women’s bathrooms.

Travel between the Science Center and the historic sector

Departures for the hydroelectric sector tours are from the Cité de l’énergie Science Center. You will be transported to and from the site on one of our land or river shuttles.

**Visitors 18 years of age and older must provide a valid photo ID to access the Shawinigan-2 power plant tour.

**Electric and magnetic fields in the power plant can interfere with the normal functioning of pacemakers. As a precaution, we do not allow people with pacemakers to visit the facility.

We have 260 free parking spaces around the Science Center. We also have a reserved, unserviced area for recreational vehicles. With the purchase of tickets for the night show, our customers can take advantage of a free space in this area to spend the night.

Two charging stations are available for our customers with electric vehicles.

Access for people with reduced mobility

All exhibitions and tours of the Cité de l’énergie are accessible to people with reduced mobility, with the exception of the city tour. We also have a few wheelchairs available for our customers. Please ask at the reception desk when you arrive.

We accept the accompanying persons’ sticker for the visit of the Cité de l’énergie and the historic sector. Please present it directly at the ticket office.
