  • How long does a visit last?

    The length of a visit can vary from one person to another. The approximate duration of a complete visit is 4 to 4 ½ hours and the approximate duration of a partial visit lasts 2 to 2 ½ hours.

  • What is included in the various tour packages?

    The complete visit includes the Science Center (Planet Energy exhibition, multimedia, the observation tower, which is currently replaced by the Behind the Scenes activity, and the Prime Minister Jean Chrétien Museum, Canada in the World). Also included is the historic sector (N.A.C. Power Plant and Shawinigan 2).

    The partial tour includes the Science Center (Planet Energy exhibit, multimedia, the tower and the Prime Minister Jean Chrétien Museum, Canada in the World) OR the historical sector (N.A.C. Power Plant and Shawinigan 2).

  • What are the opening hours?

    Open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in season, from June 27 to September 27.

    Upon reservation for groups of 20 or more during the year.

    The administrative offices are open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Are there any food courts on site?

    Yes, Cité de l’énergie offers a snack bar service, with the possibility of a vegetarian menu (closed for the 2021 season). You can also bring your own lunch and take advantage of our many indoor and outdoor dining areas.

  • Are the premises adapted for people with reduced mobility?

    Yes, our facilities allow people with reduced mobility to fully enjoy our exhibitions. The only exception is the city tour.

  • Are there any rest areas?

    Yes, we have rest areas in several locations both inside and outside.

  • Do you offer room rentals?

  • Is parking free?

    Yes, we offer free parking.

  • Is there a charging station for electric vehicles ?

    Yes and this service is offered free of charge for our visitors.

  • What are the performance times for the night show (Nezha)?

    Because of public health guidelines, the presentation of the show Nezha is canceled for the summer of 2021.

  • Why do I need to provide identification during my visit to the Shawinigan-2 power plant?

    Since the Shawinigan-2 power station is still in operation, visitors must comply with Hydro-Québec regulations, including the requirement to provide valid identification to access the facilities. This security measure is in effect at all Hydro-Québec facilities.

  • Are the exhibits suitable for children?

    Yes, our guides are happy to adapt to your needs during your visit and accompany you throughout the exhibition. Small benches are available on request for children so that they can fully enjoy the various interactive stations.

  • Is this a guided tour?

    Yes and no. Our guides will accompany you throughout your visit at your own pace.

  • Do tickets for the Cité de l’énergie tours have an expiration date?

    No, you can visit over several days or even years if you run out of time as long as you keep your tickets. However, for the 2021 season, we ask that visitors reserve their tour time in advance in the Plan Your Visit section.

  • Are the tickets for the Nezha show still valid if I can’t show up on the performance date indicated on my ticket?

    No, tickets for the Nezha show are valid for one performance only. They are non-exchangeable and non-refundable.

  • Does the Nezha outdoor show take place in case of bad weather?

    The show takes place rain or shine. Our amphitheater is covered and heated if needed.

  • Is it possible to go to the bathroom during Nezha’s show?

    No, the performance lasts 90 minutes. You must therefore plan to go to the bathroom before the show.

  • What time should I show up for Nezha show?

    You must arrive 30 to 45 minutes before the start of the show. Be sure to check your tickets for the time of the performance. Being a night show, performance times vary due to the sunset.

  • Are there restrooms on the show set?

    No, there are none on the show set, and it is not possible to go out during the show.

  • Is there an intermission during Nezha’s show?

    No, there is no intermission during the Nezha show. The duration of the show is 90 minutes.

  • Are the seats suitable for young children?

    We offer booster seats at the entrance of the stage for young children.

  • Is the show offered in different languages?

    Nezha’s show is offered in French and English. In order to attend the performance in English, please request a headset. You will need to provide identification in order to rent the headphones free of charge.

  • Are wheelchairs available?

    Yes, we offer wheelchair rentals with proof of identity.

  • Are there any strollers available?

    Yes, we do offer stroller rentals. Please note that our strollers are suitable for children one year and older or who are able to support themselves in a sitting position without support.
